Traffic is a Liquid Commodity to be Easily Monetized for Profit

If you have traffic, you have money. Today I listened to a talk from one of the online business coaches about what he would do if he would all the sudden be without money.

One of the interesting points he brought up was that he would study traffic. When I heard that, it perked me up and for a second there I was wondering what he means.

Traffic is a liquid commodity that is easily monetized to generate profit. Understanding traffic and knowing how to get it doesn’t come easy, it requires a lot of perseverance and some mathematical abilities to learn all the ratios and indicators out there.

There are teens out there, 16 – 17, driving traffic to online game sites and they make excellent money just by doing that. Yes, something like Sony Play Station is no longer just for games.

For those of you not into games, driving traffic to credit cards, insurance, real estate sales, car sales can also bring good profit. Think about it, it could be a good investment for passive income. It’s a lot of work, but it is worth it!

Why is mobile traffic so important?

web traffic 13 chartIt is predicted that soon 80% of the traffic will be from mobile devices.  This is already the case in Japan.  This could also account for the exploding market of creating apps.

Hence, make sure your site loads properly on an i-phone.  Speed makes a difference.

Also, you should keep in mind that a pretty heavy portion of online purchases are done on mobile devices too.   In the past 2 years mobile traffic has quadrupled.

Here is for example a tweet stating this in a simple language :

If you want to sell, you better optimize!

The diagram below illustrates some of the trends, emphasizing how mobile traffic has risen.  While there is  not much change in internet usage, mobile device access went up  drastically! Social media use went up, along with online orders, and so did the average online spending. It only makes us wonder where are the decreases to compensate for that.

Growth Hacking – What is it?

growth hacking

Growth hacking was introduced by a software entrepreneur, Sean Ellis, in 2010.  That changed the ways of many software companies and how they approach marketing.  This is a blend of marketing, engineering, and software – an integration that is quite scientific rather than based on luck.

Bronson Taylor, the founder of GrowthHacker TV:

web traffic 1“Honestly, the vast majority of my company’s early projects failed, and it was largely due to the fact that we could build good products, but weren’t sure what to do from there,” admits Taylor. “With every failure, we would get better and it seemed like there was more of a scientific process behind growth. But we still didn’t quite understand it.”

Google Analytics is a Free Tool for Traffic

web traffic 8 roadWho comes to your site?

In this world people a lot of times charge you for what’s out there already for free.

If you know completely nothing about coding, of course Google Analytics may present a slight obstacle for you, but there are plenty tutorials out there to show you where and how to add the code.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you change your template, you may have to add Google Analytics code all over again.  But don’t worry, don’t let it keep you from monitoring your traffic.

Sometimes people give me “advice”, like this example of a comment from someone who wanted to make a point:

“I’d recommend a small investment (free if you know someone, or $250 thereabouts) for an SEO Audit.. what are people searching for?  What key words do you want to put throughout your blogs and what tags on all of your pictures.”

So many people will charge you for what’s already there.  If you don’t know any better, like the person who wrote the message above, you may actually pay.  Google Analytics has more tools than you can possibly imagine to track your traffic.

Quick Tip – post on forums and you’ll get traffic

web traffic 2Forums and Discussion Boards could bring Traffic!

For me it seems like participation on forums and referral are the best sources of traffic.  If you have a way to find where people with your interest go to talk, you can become one of them and engage them in your ideas.

If they know who you are, they’ll come to your blog.  For me it was a big source of referral traffic in the beginning.

But make friends, don’t spam!

This site is started by a young woman who always had the desire to learn new things and techniques.  She holds an engineering degree, owns an international business, and runs a popular fashion blog.

Topics to be covered:

  • SEO
  • Marketing
  • Promotion
  • Social Media
  • Forums
  • Blogging

We also hope to touch on some selling psychology to help you increase your conversions if you are running an e-commerce site, or participation on a regular blog.

Please be patient, this is a brand new site!

You can’t separate SEO and marketing.

Why?

If your users can’t find you, they can’t buy from you.

Don’t just outsource, learn yourself too.  Stay in control.  This is your future, your sales, and your money at stake.

Tech & Ideas is not to be separated.

Here is an example from my diary entry:

“I was surprised, I googled “pantyhose humour” and I was at the bottom of page 2.  The other blogger was the first listing.  But my content was much better!  What’s going on?

I changed the URL to include “pantyhose humour” in the description and automatically I am now on the first page, 3rd ranking.  Yay!”

Think about what’s best for your client too.  I had a person who claims to work in advertising tell me that I MUST put all catalogs in a video format.  But that would annoy my clients.  They prefer to flip through website or through a printed hard copy.  Not all advice is good.
